Workouts

Workout Session

CDP sessions consist of a light warm up, followed by stretching, Agility, Balance and Control (ABCs) drills, and short sprints. The workout actually depends on the athlete experience and what sport or event they are preparing for. We normally start with a light workout to get the athlete body use to running at a much relax level, conducting ABCs drills and knowing how to control breathing. The objective is to see improvement every time they compete or conducting their individual event. The goal is to make sure that the athlete/individual learns and fully understand what they are doing and teaching them to respect the sport for what it is. The bottom line is we expect each athlete to bring a good attitude everyday along with a willingness to accept coaching, a thirst for getting better.

We focus on form, technique and endurance, because in order to achieve what you want there must be a level of mental confidence that gives them the thrive to finish a goal or race. We also pay special attention on drills, proper stretching technique and conduct a variety of strength training. Track and field takes a lot of hard work and practicing, so you must be mentally and physically dedicated to the sport.

Startup Workout

First of all, CDP would like to know what is the athlete expectations and goals for the event they are competing in, once all is establish, I see where they are as far as training and normally the first session consists of drills, plyometrics, and stretching. Normally start them with 300m composite runs at 70% speed, focusing on form and technique with 100m slow jog and 10 minutes rest in between sets, also to see their overall endurance level. Normally it`s at their own rate however, I prefer that they push a bit just to get a feel for it. From the 300m runs it will give me better ideal on the total condition the athlete really is after a series of 3. After that I can see where he or she is and make my workout plan from there. However later in the season time will tell what their specialty is, and I make adjustments as see fit.
